The Lane Bryant Outlet store at Watermark Place Outlet Center in Bessemer is offering a $5 gift certificate for women who try their new "virtual fitting room" as part of a national study.
Both Lane Bryant and Petite Sophisticates, both owned by Charming Shoppes Inc., are hosting the Intellifit Body Measurement System to collect data on true measurements of plus size and petite women.
According to a news release issued by Watermark Place, this is the first scanner used in Alabama to measure women fully clothed.
Customers step into a booth and are measured with radio waves in 10 seconds to an accuracy of 1 centimeter. They then receive a print out with five key measurements - chest, waist, height, seat and in seam - and the information is put into a national database.

I hope this data leads to much better sizing for petite clothing. I think we super-petite and hard-to-fit women better make an effort to get scanned so the clothing companies know we exist. Represent!
